Our Flutter Buys Thrift Store is an integral part of our ongoing funding. All monies raised go directly too supporting Kamloops Hospice Association. A dedicated team of employees and volunteers operate the store to ensure it is accessible, clean, and well stocked. We work hard to ensure our thrift store provides impeccable service and quality goods for our shoppers.

Job Description

As a member of the Flutter Buys Thrift Store Team, you will assist customers while performing exceptional customer service.


Key Purpose:

Sales Floor/Customer Service     

  • Acknowledge customers and assist them with their shopping needs.
  • Provide fast, efficient, and accurate checkout service.
  • Promote upcoming sales or special fundraising events.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly sales floor and check out area.
  • Answer the telephone in a professional manner.
  • Replenish product.
  • Proficiency in cash procedures and cashing out.

Key Responsibilities:

Receiving

  • Receive, assist, and thank customers for their donations.
  • Lift and move boxes and bags of donated items (up to 30 lbs.).
  • Sort through donations and evaluate items for quality and condition.
  • Price items according to established guidelines.
  • Meet assigned production targets for each shift.
  • Place clothing on hangers and items on racks and distribute to the appropriate areas on the sales floor.

Keyholder

  • Open or lock the store as scheduled.
  • Ensure the alarm is set.
  • Direct volunteer efforts in absence of mgmt.

Requirements

  • Organizational Skills – be able to identify and prioritize daily operational needs and procedures.
  • Teamwork – work with volunteers, staff and management. Flutterbuys is a diverse workplace that embraces people from all abilities and backgrounds.
  • Information Technology – proficient with Microsoft Office and other basic office software and technology.
  • Research Initiative – understand the research procedures for identifying value of incoming items. Know what websites to use to ensure accurate, reflective, pricing information.
  • Accountability – ensure you arrive to work for your scheduled shifts and communicate any absences in a timely manner.
  • Communication – Use active communication skills, fostering an environment of open, constructive communication.
  • Physical Expectations – Regularly lift items up to 30 lbs. Standing/walking/moving  for long periods. Bending, stretching, and reaching.
